We are beginning to update our website.
Buxton11 Up
Last year we changed the name of our teenage group from 7 Up to 11Up. So many adults got confused between year 7 and age 7 so, now there's no mistake age 11 and Upwards - 11 Up. We meet every Friday during term time between 5.15pm and 6.30pm. You can see this group on Bebo http://www.bebo.com/Profile.jsp?MemberId=6004126178 . If you want to try us out, come along. It's free and you get your tea as well so don't eat before you come. Fun, friends, activities and chilling out
Stepping Stones
This group is for children aged 7 - 11 and meets at the same time as 11 Up in Fridays in term time. Everyone gets fed and there's always something going on, games, crafts and more. Why not come along and give it a try.
Children's Church also known as 'WOT'. For preschool children of any age.
Every Tuesday during term time starting 2pm and finishing in time to collect other children from school. We tell stories, watch videos, sing songs, make crafts, colour and draw, run around, play games and eat nice biscuits and cake. Its great fun for children although sometimes I think the parents and grandparents get the best deal. Everyone is welcome
Cafe Church - the new face of church
We meet on the last Sunday of every month at 7pm (but December 28th 2008 we meet at 6pm) in the main hall. It's called Cafe Church because the room is set out as a café and there is good fresh coffee and tea to drink (and more) and lots of nice cake to eat all night long. We don't have sermons or loads of singing. We have provocative and thought provoking multi media sound bites during the evening prompting discussion on topical issues from a Christian perspective. It's suitable for all ages from teenagers upwards and everyone is welcome. Why not give it a try. There's no collection and no charge for anything. There's a dish for donations because some people feel they want to give but it's not expected.
Monyash Methodist. Breakfast Club and Breakfast Church
On the second Sunday of each month we meet at 9.30 for a scrumptious breakfast and then a contemporary service with video clips and PowerPoint presentations at 10.15. We've finished for 11am giving people the majority of the day to go out as they please. 75% of the village children attend this Sunday breakfast and service. !2 months ago, there were no children at this chapel. If you're here on holiday or live nearby you are welcome.
Peak Dale Methodist. Breakfast Club and Breakfast Church
On the first Sunday of each month we meet at 9.15 for a scrumptious breakfast and then a contemporary service with video clips and PowerPoint presentations at 10.00. We've finished for 10.45 giving people the majority of the day to go out as they please. 8 months ago, there were no children at this chapel but now there is a core number of approximately 8 children and sometimes more plus some parents in addition to the regular congregation who have recognised the need for change. If you're nearby on holiday or live nearby you are welcome.
JMA (Junior Mission for All)
JMA - if you belong to this group you learn about people mainly from overseas who have less than us and who need a helping hand. The group raises and collects money of which 90% goes abroad and 10% is used in the UK in socially deprived areas. Last year over £600 was raised by our group and nationally we raised thousands. We have special JMA events a few times a year that focus on an area of the world and the event revolves around a nice lunch too. We have also linked up with the Ashbourne JMA group based at Ashbourne Methodist and have joint events with them. The next event is bouncing the new year in on 3rd January at Ashbourne Methodist. We have a bouncy castle and plan a sponsored bounce plus a great lunch too. I think lunch will have to come after the bounce. I wonder why?
